Survey respondents’ reliance on the internet for product technical specifications and price information has
remained consistent with results from the 2016 and 2015 surveys . Over one in five respondent search the
internet for “product technical specifications” (22 . 1 percent) and “warranty information” (21 . 8 percent) . The
survey results suggest that for online equipment research, brand or product loyalty are less of a priority
to the respondents .
Respondents’ employment roles did not stand out as significant factor associated with information seeking .
However, technicians were (25 . 5 percent) more likely than service managers (21 . 9 percent) to go online for
technical specifications of products before they purchase the equipment .
